Bigfoot?

Hillbigfoot
Bigfoot expedition in Michigan planned by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization How exciting! Seriously, there was a time in my life where I would of totally been into this kind of thing, I guess in a way I still am. I love the idea Bigfoot, I love the name, I mean it's kind of cute, Bigfoot. Yeti is cool too, but Bigfoot is literal, a creature with a big foot, explains it all.

I would LOVE to add this *sigh* sold out Bigfoot to my collection of random stuff, guess I'll have to go ebaying for this one.

I wish the expedition the best of luck. I'm still not sure if I believe that there still is a Bigfoot, but it would be nice to have some more recent proof (don't laugh friends, I'm being serious). I mean they JUST took new footage of the Loch Ness Monster this year, be it not as exciting as I wished.
Back to the real world I go, swim classes and playdates today. No sign of Bigfoot in these parts.

New Books!

100_3862
I received a belated birthday present from my parents last week. A nice stack of books that I have been waiting for forever!! Bend-the-Rules Sewing: The Essential Guide to a Whole New Way to Sew is so great. Amy does a wonderful job describing projects that are fun and creative. Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing: Patterns and How-To for 24 Fresh and Easy Projects is also way cute. I want to make everything in it! The New Crewel: Exquisite Designs in Contemporary Embroideryby Katherine Shaughnessy, this is something that i've been wanting to try, so it's a perfect start up book with great project ideas and illustrations. The Crafter's Companion: Tips, Tales and Patterns from a Community of Creative Minds by Anna Torborg, I could stare at this book for hours. It's my take to the pool book along with a small project, which i've been doing alot of lately. except today, today was a stay inside and take a nap kind of day, then head to the library kind of evening, then have a beer and hope it rains kind of night.

Dark Horse Beer

Last night Shawn and I took the girls down to Sidetracks for a burger. We've been eating later and later every night. Seems like the normal dinner time for us now is 8pm. I kind of like it since i'm not really a breakfast person, and lunch it usually just a snack and lots of snacks inbetween. We are on the go a lot, and dinner tends to be the main sit down family meal.
I decided that I would have the Dark Horse Raspberry Ale for a change. It's not like a fruity beer where it's all sticky sweet, i hate sweet beers, this is just a hint of raspberry, and not sweet at all.

I usually don't mix fruit with my beer, it's not something I tend to like unless it's citrus, like in a Bell's Oberon, but I had a chance to sample the Raspberry Ale last year at the Michigan Summer Brew Festival and it was excellent. My all time favorite summer beer though is Arbor Brewing's Brasserie Blond.
Blonde
I love the hint of coriander and that it's slightly sparkling. Perfect for summer. Their expresso love is also very yummy.
Didn't mean for this to be a beer post, but it is quite yummy and worth the mention.

YEAH Pool!

Pool is open! We had a wonderful first day back at our lovely neighborhood pool. It was great to see how everyone comes out of the woodwork again after a long anxious wait to see if it would be up and running. Same old faces hanging out, it makes me so happy to be part of the community.

date night

It's been crazy around here the past few months. shawn and i have barely seen eachother, the girls were getting out of school which meant field trips, and then there was this little theatre production i was in, so i was gone every night. so i've had plenty of good reasons to blow this whole blog thing off.
With summer vacation now here, i have my old life back and plenty of time to do the projects and etc that i'm used to doing. the garden looks pretty good, minus the lack of veggies this year. i've been cleaning out lots of closets and craft areas which only makes way for more garbage picking and yard sale finds.
shawn and i finally got a very very much needed date night. we have the sweetest babysitter in the universe and her boyfriend is mighty nice too, so we trust them completly and can have a good time out with no worries.

lily took this picture of us before we left. she is really into "sloothing" since we saw the "nancy drew" movie eariler that day. future fieldtrips are in the works, and i'm really really hoping that the pool opens soon, fingers crossed for wednesday. oh rutherford pool, you are my summer savior. i found out last week that you can actually get muscle strains from a lazy river! who knew?? obviously i do now. my extent of water activities can be summed up in two words, large tube.

oh, and there was that little holiday called father's day yesterday. i'm not much for those types of holiday hoopla, it's a bunch of crap, but shawn likes to celebrate so we did. i do appreciate him so. there were gifts of warhammer geekdom given, and of course dinner. the girls didn't whine their normal amount, so that was cool.
down into the nice cool basement for us today. i have a pile of fabric waiting to be folded not to mention the laundry i've been avoiding for weeks now.
happy monday!
